How Many Business Days Between Two Dates

What are business days, and how do you calculate them?

Business days are the weekdays a workplace operates, usually Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and observed holidays. To calculate business days between two dates, count every calendar day in the range and subtract any Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The calculator below does this for any date range, with custom weekends and holidays.

How to calculate business days between two dates

  1. Pick a start date and end date.
  2. Adjust the weekend selector if your week off isn't Saturday and Sunday.
  3. Enter any holiday dates to exclude (comma-separated YYYY-MM-DD).
  4. Toggle Include start and Include end to control endpoint counting.
  5. Read the business-day count and the breakdown of weekend and holiday exclusions.

Worked example: a week with an office closure

Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 23, 2026 contains five weekdays when both endpoints are included. If an office closes on Wednesday, October 21, add that date to the excluded dates field. The result becomes four business days. That Wednesday is an illustrative company closure, not an automatically recognized public holiday.

Switch off Include start date and the result becomes three business days. Holiday dates that already fall on a selected weekend are not deducted twice. For delivery dates or regulatory deadlines, check the appropriate local calendar and whether the starting date counts.

A note on public holidays

Calcadian doesn't bundle a country-specific holiday list because public holidays vary by country, region, and even employer. Add the dates you observe in the excluded dates field above. For a starting point, see public holidays by country (Wikipedia).
