Business Date Calculator

Enter a date and a number of business days. Calcadian skips weekends and any holidays you list, then shows the working day you land on.

What date is 20 business days from a given date?

Count forward 20 working days from the start date, skipping weekends and holidays. The starting date is day zero, so counting begins with the next working day. Enter your date below, choose add or subtract, and the calculator shows the resulting workday along with everything it skipped.

Non-working days of the week

Monday to Friday working week by default.

Comma-separated YYYY-MM-DD dates, for example 2026-12-25, 2027-01-01

Your result will appear here after you press Calculate.

How to add business days to a date

  1. Enter the date the clock starts from.
  2. Leave the direction on Add business days.
  3. Enter how many working days to move.
  4. Adjust the working week and add holidays if your office differs from Monday to Friday.
  5. Press Calculate and read the resulting workday.

How to subtract business days

Switch the direction to Subtract business days. This answers backward-looking questions such as “if the filing is due on the 30th, and I need 10 working days of lead time, when must I start?” The same weekend and holiday rules apply in reverse.

Business days vs calendar days

Ten calendar days is always ten days later. Ten business days is usually fourteen calendar days, because two weekends fall inside the span. Add a public holiday and it becomes fifteen. Contracts and service windows normally mean business days, so check the wording before you plan around it.

Does the starting date count?

By default it does not. The start date is day zero, so Friday plus one business day is the following Monday, and Monday minus one business day is the previous Friday. Some rules count the starting day itself, so the option is there when you need it. With it on, and a working start date, Friday plus one business day stays Friday.

How weekends and holidays are handled

Any day marked as a non-working weekday is skipped, and so is any date you list as a holiday. Skipped days do not count toward the total, but they do add to the calendar days elapsed. A holiday that falls on a weekend is counted once, as a weekend day.

Worked example

Friday, January 2, 2026 plus 5 business days is Friday, January 9, 2026. Two weekend days are skipped, so 7 calendar days pass.

Frequently asked questions

Does the starting date count as day one?
No, not by default. The start date is day zero, so Friday plus one business day gives the following Monday. If your deadline rule counts the starting day itself, turn on “Count the starting date”.
Are weekends skipped?
Yes. Saturday and Sunday are skipped by default. You can change which days count as the weekend, for example Friday and Saturday, or a six-day working week.
Can I exclude holidays?
Yes. Enter the holiday dates you observe as comma-separated YYYY-MM-DD values. Holidays are not detected automatically because they vary by country, region and employer.
How is this different from the Business Days Calculator?
The Business Days Calculator takes two dates and returns a count of working days. This one takes a single date and a number of working days and returns the date you land on.
