Days Until Calculator

Count down to any date — a launch, deadline, birthday, holiday, or trip — or count up from a date that has already passed.

How do you count the number of days until a date?

To count days until a date, subtract today's date from the target date. The result is how many full days remain. If the target is already past, the same subtraction shows days since. The calculator below counts down to any date, and lets you change the start date or name the event.

How to count days until a date

  1. Pick a target date — a deadline, holiday, trip, or birthday.
  2. Optionally change the start date (today by default) for a future countdown.
  3. Optionally name the event for a clearer copied summary.
  4. Turn on Include target date to count the day itself.
  5. Copy the summary to share or save.

Example

From today, there are typically 30+ days until a month-out deadline. If the target has passed, Calcadian shows how many days ago it was.

Frequently asked questions

How does Calcadian count days until?
It counts whole days from the start date (today by default) to the target date. If the target is in the past, you'll see “days since” instead.
Does it include the target day?
Only when you turn on “Include target date”. Off by default — most countdowns mean “days before it arrives”.
Can I use this for birthdays or trips?
Yes. Name your event so the copied summary reads naturally.
Why does the result change at midnight?
Calcadian compares calendar days. As soon as your local date rolls over, the count steps down by one.
Can the start date be in the future?
Yes. Set a future start date to plan a countdown that begins later.
